3rd hour Assignments

Good morning,
Here is our last math assignment for the year. It is a review of the material from Chapter 6.
**This is Quizizz, so remember that is does not save your answers, also, you may not go change your answers, so click carefully. If something happens, and you need me to reassign it, then email me and let me know.
**When you sign in, use your real name, or at least first name and last initial. If you do not follow this rule, you will get a 0 for the assignment and not be able to redo it.
**It doesn't matter if you use the mobile link or web link....decide based on the device you are using.
**Show your work in your notebook.
** This is graded on accuracy and due by May 7 at 8pm.

Today we are practicing 6.5 one last time. Look back over the WS from 6.5 A in formative. Check your mistakes and any comments I might have made. If you missed one, check the right answer and figure out why your answer isn't correct. Today your homework is 6.5 B and it is graded on accuracy and due 5/5 by 8pm

Today we are moving onto section 5, called similarity and measurement. It takes everything we've learned in Chapter 6 and uses that information in this section. You need to go back to formative and see how you did on the WS from lesson 4. You must understand your mistakes before you move onto this section. If you have any questions, please reach out to me today. As you go through today's information, keep in mind that it matters how your proportions are set up. Pay attention to how he sets up his proportions. For example, when you set up your proportion, if your first fraction is short side/long side then it needs to equal another fraction of short side/long side. Once you set up your proportions, you just cross multiply like you did in lesson 3.

To Do:
1) Go back over formative and look at your mistakes from Lesson 4.
2) WATCH the videos. These all go along with our book. They do the same examples, along with a few extra ones. Follow along!!!
***The one called Pre-algebra - 6.5 - Similarity and Measurement, (16 minutes) This is the same guy from last week. He does the first 2 examples from your book.
***The one called Pre-Algebra Lesson 6.5 - Similarity and Measurement (12 minutes) This lady does all 3 examples from your book. If you like her better, watch this one, BUT DEFINITELY watch example #3, it starts at about 9:30.
***The one called 6.5 similarity and measurement (12 minutes) does another example of one like #3. It starts about 7:50. Watch from there on for sure.
3) Take notes in your notebook, make sure you are getting the same answers they get in our book.
4) Homework is pg. 307 #6-11, 15. It is graded on completion and due 4/29.

We are going to practice this section today and Wednesday. It is very important that everyone can set up the ratios correctly. Otherwise we won't be able to do lesson 5.
So today:
1) Look back over your notes and rewatch the videos from April 15th if you need to.
2) Go back to formative pg. 303 and look how you did. Did you make mistakes? What were they?
HW: WS 6.4 A in formative, graded on completion, due Tuesday by 8pm.

We are moving onto section 4. Here is what you need to do today....
1) Read and take notes on pg. 297 and 298. There are some geometry terms you need to be familiar with.
2) Having colored pens or highlighters makes this lesson easier.
2) I need you to watch ALL of the videos I am including and take notes on them. The video that is called "Pre-Algebra- 6.4- Similar and Congruent Figures" goes along with our book. Look through the book as you watch this video. Make sure to pause it when you need to and make sure you are taking notes.
3) Watch the video called "7-2 Ratios in Similar Polygons" He talks about how to find the ratios, however, when he lists the corresponding sides, he says they are congruent (equal), they are not, the sides are similar. He should have used the similar symbol, not the congruent symbol.
4) Look at the "Congruence-Math in Demand" link AFTER you have watched the videos. Do the examples she provides for you. It is extremely important that you are able to find corresponding sides. The next section will not go well if are not able to do this. At the end she talks about "Congurence Theorems" it is the last part of this site, you do not need to read this last part.
5) Homework: pg. 303 # 7,9-15. For #9-12, your ratio MUST be set up as figure A to B. You will find in on formative. This is graded on completion.

Not everyone has been "finding" my videos and other links I have been sending when I post it as "Material." So to make sure everything is in one place and has a due date and that your parents can see what is due, I will post everything under assignments from now on.

Today...
1) Go back to formative and look to see if there are comments on pg. 295. Some of you missed some questions, look at the correct answers and try to figure out what you did wrong. Do not start this WS until you are sure you understand your mistakes. You can email with a picture of your work and I can look at it closer for you.
2) Many of you missed #37-40. Re-watch the video with the guy in the red shirt. I've included it here for you if you need it.
3) Today's homework is WS 6.3, it is graded on accuracy and due 4/9 at 8 pm

This WS needs to be completed and returned. You may take a picture of your answers or scan it and email it to me. Please make sure I can read your answers.

If you were in the middle of the assignment, you will need to start over. If you finished it, then I already have your grades...that would be Mikey, Megan, and Patrick...the three of you do not need to do this again.

All late work is due Wednesday, October 9th. If you do not have it turned in by then, you risk receiving an "Incomplete" on your report card.

We will take this in class on Tuesday.
