Home & School Organization (HSO)

Welcome to the ICD Home & School Organization! Parents of children attending ICD School (K-8) are automatically members of the HSO. The ICD HSO exists for four main purposes:

To provide communication between parents of students and members of the school staff.
To provide support for the educational programs of the school.
To provide the school with financial support for needed expenses not included in the school's budget.
To provide the families of ICD a sense of community through HSO-sponsored events and activities held throughout the year.

HSO CORE TEAM & EVENT CHAIR/COMMITTEE JOB DESCRIPTIONS

Communications Chair (Lead and Assistant)

Responsibilities

- Two year commitment - first year served as assistant chair and second served as head
- Works closely with HSO exec and individual event co-chairs
- Responsible for the creation of all marketing materials required for each HSO event using Canva
- Creates and manages the timeline for creation, approval, and distribution of all marketing materials
- Manages social media posts for HSO on Facebook
- Creates newsletter items and sends them to the office so that they can be included in the weekly ICD school newsletter
- Lead & Assistant can divide the above responsibilities as they see fit

Time Commitment

- Attendance at the monthly meetings by either the lead or the assistant chair (Day/Time TBD)
- Attend as many HSO events as possible
- Volunteer for one shift at the Welcome Back Celebration in August
- Additional 1-2 hours/week needed depending on the events coming up (including hours during the summer to prep marketing for the Welcome Back Celebration)

Volunteer Coordinator (Lead and Assistant)

Responsibilities

- Two year commitment – first year served as assistant chair and second served as head
- Works closely with HSO exec and individual event co-chairs
- Responsible for the creation of all Sign-Up Genius sign-ups needed for each event that requires volunteers
- Creates and manages the timeline for creation and approval of sign-up geniuses
- Provides email communication with volunteers with pertinent instructions and information, as needed
- Lead & Assistant can divide the above responsibilities as they see fit

Time Commitment

- Attendance at the monthly meetings by either the lead or the assistant chair (Day/Time TBD)
- Attend as many HSO events as possible
- Volunteer for one shift at the Welcome Back Celebration in August
- Additional 1-2 hours/week needed depending on the events coming up (including hours during the summer to prep for the August and September events if not completed before the end of the year)

Staff Support Chair (Lead and Assistant)

Responsibilities

- Two year commitment – first year served as assistant chair and second served as head
- Responsible for managing the event co-chairs and committees of activities that support ICD teachers and staff (BRAVO days, Favorite Things Lists, Teacher Conference Meals, and Staff Appreciation Week)
- Works closely with HSO exec
- Manages the calendar and initiates the planning process of each event
- Maintains regular contact with co-chairs and ensures that all deadlines are met (submitting signup geniuses for volunteers, getting the marketing chairs to create materials, etc.)
- Provides updates to HSO exec to be included in the monthly exec meeting with the principal
- Provides updates to the HSO committee during the monthly HSO meetings
- Lead & Assistant can divide the above responsibilities as they see fit

Time Commitment

- Attendance at the monthly meetings by either the lead or the assistant chair (Day/Time TBD)
- Attend as many HSO events as possible

Events Coordinator #1 (Lead and Assistant)

Responsibilities

- Responsible for managing the event co-chairs and committees for the following events: K-2nd Grandparents Day (September), Trunk or Treat (October), Pastries with Prairie Dogs (March), Field Day (May)
- Works closely with HSO exec
- Manages the calendar and initiates the planning process of each event
- Maintains regular contact with co-chairs and ensures that all deadlines are met
- Provides updates to HSO exec to be included in the monthly exec meeting with the principal
- Provides updates to the HSO committee during the monthly HSO meetings
- Lead & Assistant can divide the above responsibilities as they see fit

Responsibilities

- Responsible for managing the event co-chairs and committees for the following events: Welcome Back Celebration (August), Raise Craze (September), ICD Open House (January), and Speaker Series (throughout the year).
- Works closely with HSO exec
- Initiates the planning process of each event
- Maintains regular contact with co-chairs and ensures that all deadlines are met
- Provides updates to HSO exec to be included in the monthly exec meeting with the principal
- Provides updates to the HSO committee during the monthly HSO meetings
- Lead & Assistant can divide the above responsibilities as they see fit

Parent Representatives (PreK, K-4th, and 5th-8th)

AKA Our Influencers!

- Attendance at the monthly meetings by one of the two parent representatives for each age group (Day/Time TBD)
- Provide feedback on ideas presented at the monthly meeting
- Attend as many HSO events as possible and help "debrief" the event at the following monthly meeting by presenting your thoughts on your experience
- Share, share, share HSO news throughout the community by word of mouth and social media
- One year commitment

Raise Craze Co-Chairs and Committee

Raise Craze is our school's only fundraiser! With the funds raised we complete necessary improvements to the school that fall outside of the normal operating budget.

- Creates goals, incentives, and plans for the use of money raised
- Executes the fundraiser using the Raise Craze online portal and all of the resources provided by RC
- Kick-Off is 9/22/25 and the fundraiser runs for 2-3 weeks. Awards and prizes will be distributed in the weeks following.
- More hands definitely make for lighter work!
- Volunteers can be requested for execution

Some light planning may be necessary over the summer.
