Sixth-grade students have begun Project Lead the Way. Students used criteria and constraints to create a piece of furniture for their client, Miss Adams. Students wrote their own problem and design statements which then allowed them to create technical drawings on paper. Students drew out their ideas and included the six different design elements. Finally, students worked with a partner to share their own designs. Students used a design matrix to pick a final product. Students took this final product and used Tinkcad, a 3D printing website, to create their model that could be printed using ICD's 3D printer.

On Campus - Week of December 19

In 5A, students took a little break from learning about Earth's systems to do a STEM activity. They were challenged to mail a Pringle to another school without it breaking. They could only use ten materials, such as tissue, paper towels and rubber bands. Students had to sketch and design a prototype, with the finished project only weighing 36g. Students enjoyed testing the prototypes to see if their Pringle could arrive safely. 5A is anxiously awaiting the envelopes from the partner class. We plan to join a Google Hangout and open the envelopes together.

On Campus - Book Fair

The 2019 ICD Book Fair with Main Street Books and Pauline Books & Media was a HUGE success!! We helped support a local bookstore, and were able to offer a larger selection of religious titles as well. The dress down money collected will go towards buying new books for our library. Thanks to all our wonderful volunteers who helped make it possible, and all the families that supported us.
