Literature

After I give information and instructions for the day, students will be working together in small groups, taking turns reading aloud and helping each other answer questions on provided graphic organizers or sheets. They do have significant class time each literature period to work, but anything unfinished will be assigned as homework. They will also be given approximately 10 minutes of reading time each literature class to read independently.

English

Writing - Writing assignments will generally be given every two to three weeks, with the exception of the short story, which will take four weeks total, and the research paper, which will take about two months.  For each writing assignment, students will complete a rough draft prior to turning in their final draft. They will work on revising and editing in class. Graded work will be saved in their portfolio (1.5” binder) throughout the year.
