Writing - Writing assignments will generally be given every two to three weeks, with the exception of the short story, which will take four weeks total, and the research paper, which will take about two months.  For each writing assignment, students will complete a rough draft prior to turning in their final draft. They will work on revising and editing in class. Graded work will be saved in their portfolio (1.5” binder) throughout the year.

Grammar - Grammar will be incorporated into the writing process, and a new concept will be taught every week or every other week.  Students will practice the new concept using an online program called No Red Ink.  

Wordly Wise - Students will be given different assignments in the workbook, and will take turns presenting particular words to the class.  Quizzes are on Fridays of full weeks of school, including some half-day Fridays.  

Technology - Students are required to keep their files organized in their Google Drive so they can access work at both home and school.  Students are responsible for having their papers printed before they come to class. If they are not able to print their assignments from home, a parent email is required and the student must  email me their assignment before 7:10 a.m. on the day that it is due.
