Today we are going to practice adding and subtracting polynomials again.
To Do:
1) Go back to formative and look at the last assignment you did (adding and subtracting polynomials) How did you do? Did you get some wrong? Look at the correct answers, why are yours wrong?
2) Re-watch the videos if you need to.
3) Be careful of your negative signs.
4) Let me know if you have any questions.
Homework: Day 2 Add/Subtract Polynomials on formative. It is graded on completion and due 5/5 by 8pm
Good morning,
Today we are moving on. This will be the last thing we work on this year and it is very similar to what we have done before with combining like terms. This concept is not in your book, so make sure to watch the videos. However, I know you can all add and subtract like terms, so I think you will be fine after you watch the videos.
Today...
1) Watch the videos that I have included. Even if you think you already know how to do it, you NEED to watch the videos. In the video called "More examples of addition and subtraction of polynomials, the teacher talks about degree. Listen, but the thing you need to learn from those first six minutes is how to write your final answer in standard form. The variable with the largest exponent goes first and then in descending order. Your answer will need to be written in the correct order. In the videos called "two methods for adding polynomials" and "subtract polynomials-vertical method" the teacher explains how to add these vertically. Most people don't use this method, but if you like it, you are welcome to use it. You need to remember that you can only add and subtract like terms, that means they have to have the same variable raised to the same exponent.
2) Make sure when you are subtracting, you distribute the negative sign to everything inside of the ( ). The video with the light blue screen explains this very well.
4) After you have done those things, you may start your homework. The questions are on formative. It is graded on completion.
You should be able to see the correct answers as well as if you missed points because you rounded wrong or had the wrong label.
2) Use the formula page I am giving you today to help answer the questions.
3) Make sure you are using the correct formula for what the question is asking you.
4) This is due on Tuesday 4/29 by 8pm, it is graded on accuracy. You will find it on formative.
