Get Family and Friends involved!

One customer’s parents owned a business that needed a new tractor. They were planning to buy it from Sears. The timing couldn’t have been better as Sears was running a bonus and the return would be 10%!! She placed the order with her parents’ company check, we ordered her the Sears, and she ended up with $210 in her account! So easy!

When one family’s out of state family is planning a visit they ask if there is any scrip that they would like to be waiting for them upon arrival. They look over the GLSCRIP list and send an order with a check. When they arrive, their scrip is waiting for them (no shipping or worrying about sending cards through the mail). They stock up and the family gets a return into their HSO account. Most families are happy to do this as they aren’t close enough to attend fund raisers and like to help.

Many families have grandparents in town and know that they shop at the local stores that we carry on hand. The grandparents make orders for Shop n Save and Dierbergs, plus restaurants that they frequent. It is an easy way to help out the school with money they are already spending anyway.

One customer started buying gift cards for Christmas in the summer. Every few weeks, she would pick up a card or two to Walmart, Kohl’s, Dillard’s, Macy’s, Old Navy, and Sports Authority. By the time the big after Thanksgiving sales came – she was ready! She was able to complete her shopping in November AND still had money in her bank account! She enjoyed a stress-free December and knew that her HSO account was looking pretty good too.

Another customer has all of their family out of state. Shipping gifts at Christmas can be a real chore. She decided to get creative and came up with a theme for the family gifts she was sending. “Family Pizza and Movie Night” was an easy theme for each family to enjoy. She purchased Domino’s $14 card for a pizza and 2 liter soda (25% return), 3 Blockbuster single movie cards at $3.79 each (15% return) and a $10 Cold Stone Creamery card (10% return). It was easy to send and the families who received the “Family Pizza and Movie Night” gift raved about what a great gift idea and how much fun they had together. It was a great family gift for only $35.37. She gave this to four families and ended up with $24.80 in her HSO account!

Get Your Employers Involved

Does your employer give Christmas gifts or adopt families for the Holidays? How about approaching them and asking them to think about Scrip? It will be easy “One Stop Shopping” (meaning less hassle) for them and will send money into your HSO account. If they give out gift certificates, show them a Scrip form and let them pick what they would like.
If they adopt families for the holidays, they can purchase grocery stores, Walmart, Kmart, Kohl’s, or even Visa Pre-Paid cards. They will be grateful for the convenience and you will be closer to your HSO obligation.

Does your employer use gas cards? Why not have them buy our FastLane, Shell, BP, or Mobil cards?

Does your employer or your own business utilize Home Depot or Lowe’s? We carry them on hand. Have your company buy them through us (for larger orders, we can even order in $1000 cards).

Use Scrip for your vacations!

Going to Disney for Fall Break, Spring Break, or over the summer? GLScrip carries Disney cards with a 2% return. You can use these cards for your lodging on the Disney property, meal plans, and tickets to the parks themselves. Pick them up for months ahead of time and have your trip paid for when you arrive!

Will you be renting a car? GLScrip carries Avis and Budget – both with an 8% return!

We can also arrange for you to get 4% return on vacations – send scrip@icdschool.org an email with you name, number of travelers, phone number, travel destination and dates. We will get you a reference number from GLScrip. You can then contact their travel agency or Apple Vacations and receive 4% back on your vacation.
