Welcome to Immaculate Conception
Home & School Organization (HSO) 2011-12
Immaculate Conception Home & School Organization is an organization with three primary purposes:
· To provide communication between parents of students and members of the school staff. Communication is provided in the form of three (3) meetings. The meetings will be held in September, February, and April. At least one parent is asked to attend each of the meetings.
· To provide support for the educational programs of the school. This support comes from our members in the form of time and treasure. Members serve as volunteers, playground supervisors, aiding in the classrooms, library, and office as needed throughout the year.
· The organization also provides the school with financial support for needed expenses not included in the school’s budget. This would include such things as new textbooks, educational resources for the teachers, graduation expenses, etc. The organization will mainly generate money through SCRIP sales, using additional fundraisers as needed.
HSO Financial Obligation
As a member of Immaculate Conception Home & School Organization, each school family will be required, through fund raisers, to generate $300 profit annually to support the organization. This includes the $50 playground/supervision fee. If there are circumstances that make payment very difficult, please call the principal to discuss your situation confidentially. The calendar year for generation of these funds generally runs May 1st to April 30th.
The required $300 HSO Financial Obligation will be pro-rated for new families accepted for enrollment after May 31st according to the following schedule.

HSO Financial Obligation funds can be generated in one of the four ways listed below.
1. SCRIP sales option—SCRIP is a term that means substitute money. When you buy SCRIP you are purchasing gift certificates that are used just like cash. The most appealing aspect of SCRIP is that this is money you would normally spend on groceries, clothing, gasoline, restaurants, home improvements, etc. This means that if you choose to purchase SCRIP, you are spending no additional money than what you would normally spend on these household expenses and it enables you to generate earnings to satisfy your $300 HSO Financial Obligation.
OVER
With the SCRIP Program, every time you buy gift certificates, the store gives back a percentage of your purchase to ICD. ICD then posts this amount to your family account. For example—you purchase $100 of Shop N Save and receive 4% to be credited to your family account—$4.00. The percentage earned varies with each vendor (between 1-1/2% to 25%).
Your earnings from the SCRIP Program are endless and are totally dependent on the volume and frequency SCRIP is purchased. Routine weekly purchasing is the key to your success. Pennies made each week add up to hundreds of dollars in your family account. Family account statements will be updated on Edline at various times throughout the year. SCRIP will be available for purchase after all Masses (except Sundays 5:00 pm mass) and you can place an order during the week through SCHOOL EXPRESS to be picked up on various days of the week.
This schedule is subject to change..
2. Market Day sales option—The HSO offers the opportunity for families to purchase food products through the Market Day Program each month during the school year. These items are delivered to Immaculate Conception on a specific Saturday of that month where you may then pick them up. Ten percent (10%) of the wholesale price of the items will be applied to your HSO Financial Obligation.
3. Combination option—Your family may decide to combine SCRIP Sales and Market Day Sales Options. Our hope is to make it as easy as possible for each family to meet their HSO Financial Obligation.
4. Cash Payment option—The HSO will accept $300 as a buy out from all fund raising obligations. Make the check payable to the Immaculate Conception Home and School Organization. If you choose this option, payment is due by October 1, 2011.
Families re-registering in February, 2011 must have seventy-five percent of their obligation ($225) for the current year generated before registration time. The remaining twenty-five percent of the funds must be generated by April 26th, 2011. All families must have their HSO Financial Obligation for the current year paid-in-full by April 26th, 2011 or students report cards will not be forwarded and your students will not be accepted for the next school year.
Eighth Grade families who will not be re-registering in February with younger siblings must have fifty percent of their obligation ($150) for the current year generated before November 1st or their application and records for high school will not be forwarded.
Student’s records and report cards for families not returning the next school year will be released and forwarded only after the HSO Financial Obligation is met.
The HSO Financial Obligation is not considered charitable contributions by Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and School.
