Cafeteria News 2010-2011 School Year
Once again, our lunch program will be operating the NutriKids Government Program. The NutriKids Program offers a well-balanced meal. We hope the students will enjoy the nutritious variety of items inclusive of a full salad/fruit bar.
NutriKids makes our lunch program more efficient as it offers:
- All transactions are handled by this very efficient computerized program
- Computerized student identification
- Identification of student allergies
- Quick and easy student account information
- End of day reports
- Family accounts – Families with 2 or more children will have 1 account for all their children. You will receive 1 notice for your family balance.
How it works:
Each family should send in a minimum of $50.00 to open their family account.
Each student will have their own lunch card with an ID # assigned to the child. (The first $1.00 of your first payment will be used for this ID card.)
Students go through the lunch line, selecting their lunch options.
After the students receive their lunch, they proceed to the cashier and their card will be scanned, deducting the amount of their purchase, including the plate lunch, and/or any extra a-la-carte items.
Notices will be sent home a minimum of twice a week to keep families informed of low balance accounts. We ask that you send payment promptly to keep the program operating smoothly.
- If the student’s ID card is broken or lost, a $3.00 charge will be deducted from or added to your account. A new card will then be issued to the student.
- No one will ever be denied a lunch due to insufficient funds in their account. Once the students reach a negative balance, she/he will receive 3 more lunches of choice. This gives the family a chance to turn their deposit . If payment is not received by the 3rd charge, the students will receive a PBJ, salad bar, and milk until their account is brought up to a positive balance.
- This payment plan is the same as last year. Your deposit will be posted evenly among your child/ren, in your family account. (All checks should be made payable to the ICD Cafeteria). Please mail your child/ren’s first payment and deposit form prior to the beginning of the school year in the envelope (included in your back to school packet). As the year progresses, lunch payments should be sent in using our New Lunch Deposit Envelopes.
- Your notices will come home as a family balance. If at any time you want to know what your child/ren have purchased, a transaction report can be printed out.
- The cost of lunch is:
Lunch Tray: $2.25 Extra Entree: $.80
Orange Juice $.40 Milk $.30
- The government program lunch tray consists of a main entrée, side dish, salad bar/fruit bar, dessert, and milk. Juice is not included in the price of a lunch tray.
- The selection of milk will be 1% white, 1% chocolate & skim.
- There will be 3 entrees on the menu. Entrée 3 will always be PBJ uncrustable.
- The menu consists of 5 items. The students have to choose at least 2 items and 1 item from the salad/fruit bar. The student does not have to choose milk, but it is included in the price of the lunch tray.
- Please be aware of your child’s lunch purchases. Many students purchase extras on popular items, e.g., chicken nuggets, hot dogs, pizza, tacos. Also, there are students who purchase extra drinks.
- As always, Friday is Pizza Day.
- All lunch orders need to be turned into the Cafeteria by 9:00 a.m.(especially on Pizza days ), If you have a child who will be arriving late (due to an appointment) you will need to call the office to have him/her added to the lunch order.
- If you have any questions, please call the cafeteria at 561-4450 extension 131.
The ICD Café wishes you a very special school year! See you in the lunch line!

Free and Reduced Meal Information
If there is any family who thinks they may qualify for free or reduced price lunches, please fill out the attached forms and send them in as soon as possible. This is one of the benefits the government program makes available to the students. This is kept strictly confidential. The program is here to help the families who cannot afford to purchase daily lunches for their children. We will then notify you if you qualify. Thank you.
