All About the Faculty and Staff
- The staff of Immaculate Conception Catholic School is qualified according to both state requirements and Archdiocesan requirements.
- 100% of the teachers are fully certified teachers with a state license.
- Of the forty certified staff most have their licenses from the State of Missouri. However, we have professionals with licenses from Texas, Illinois, Virginia and Kansas.
- In total, forty certified faculty members collectively have 183 years of teaching at Immaculate Conception, with the average being 4.5 years. This longevity average reflects a faculty that has tripled in size in the past 10 years. Collectively, we have worked for the Archdiocese for a total of 379 years.
- Having had the advantage of adding new teaching positions over the past ten years, we have a great balance of veteran/master level teachers combined with fairly new teachers. We have found it a delight to yearly add new faces to our faculty family. These new individuals yearly bring great ideas and incredible enthusiasm to our efforts.
- There are 8 certified catechists, and eighteen are working toward certification. While these numbers may seem surprising, it is important to know that our faculty has tripled in size over the past ten years. As new teachers have been hired, they have quickly formed a plan to complete their religious certification. This process is supervised by our CRE. She updates records and supports teachers in their efforts to gain certification as well as keep certification current.
- All teachers of religion have growth opportunity plans for religious certification through Paul VI Institute. This certification is monitored by our CRE, and kept current according to archdiocesan requirements.
- Our additional professional staff is highly trained as well: our nurse, Janet Benne, is an RN. Mitch Kalist, technology coordinator, has over twenty years of experience with computers in the business industry. He has multiple levels of certifications. Lisa Kolkmeier, our food service manager is a certified professional food manager.
- We embrace a commitment to quality teaching, and our students are our first priority. We believe that we are all teachers for all the students in our school.
- We consistently attempt to model the Christian standards of ethical behavior and integrity and seek to inspire these in our students.
- We believe and celebrate that we are life-long learners and we also believe that our students have as much to teach us as we have to teach them.
- To give our students the very best, we willingly and lovingly do what must be done – conferencing with parents, emailing, returning phone calls, attending meetings before school, after school, as well as in the evenings, attending workshops, conducing extracurricular activities serving on committees, etc.
- We can serve voluntarily on many different committees. We have committees that meet several times a month and others that meet less. We sign up for committees in May and work together so that all committees have an equal participation level. Our Spirituality Committee, School Improvement Team, and Accelerated Reader Committee are the three major groups that work continuously throughout the year. Other committees include Catholic Schools Week Planning Team, Health and Wellness Committee, Dress Code Review, Fun Day, etc.
- We can volunteer for numerous extra curricular activities: Student Council, Safety Patrol, Choir, Bellarmine Speech, Robotics, Social Justice Rocks, Girls on the Run, Read Right and Run, Chess Club, Yearbook, Academic Bowl, Math Club.
